Hello all. Storm here.
If you want to know more about the person writing this, this would be the first thing you would read. So I am, as you may have noticed in my title, a college student. You may be asking, "Where do you go to, Storm?" Well, I go to a certain school called Mountain View College. No, not the one in Texas; the one in the Philippines.
This "MVC" is situated around 15 kilometers away from the nearest city; Valencia of the province of Bukidnon. I arrived there when I was in my Junior Year in High School. Before that, I lived within reach of Davao. I am a freshman here, taking up a Bachelor of Arts in History. I also don't go outside a lot (introvert and proud).
I managed to fit in quite easily, probably due to English being my first language and the number of foreign classmates that come from all over the world. And saying so myself, the weather is really nice up here, as it gives me a break from the scorching hot temperatures down in the valleys. Also, there happens to be the occasional fog that engulfs the campus.
The doctrines they teach is based off a conservative incarnation of Seventh-Day Adventism. Really. It's not that I'm not against it (as I am a Seventh-Day Adventist myself), but because many things are outlawed. I understand that it's for the good of the students, but some of these rules are pretty outlandish and a little hypocrtitical if you ask me. For example, anything but religious music is frowned upon; but I hear pop songs being played during sports days! And they say "secular music" is bad!
Anyway, out of that topic, it's time to move on to my next description; it's BIG. You could fit ten Vatican Cities inside of MVC, and the campus itself occupies around an eighth of the area given to the college. The rest of it is composed of farms and nature, so if you want to hike, visit the waterfalls to the south of the campus, or explore the river to the north, where you can find a hydroelectric dam providing for the campus. A supply that is about to be caught up with the demand due to students bringing in more gadgets. Water is readily available to all who ask for it; and food and other basic commodities can be found here, including some gas. So far it's all good.
You may be asking, "Storm, did you survive college so far?" Look, it's only my first year, so the work will eventually become harder. Hey, I want to graduate and find a job as much as the rest of you people in your early 20s, which may explain why I might not show up on the web sometimes. However, please understand that I also have to deal with real life just like the rest of us here.
If you ask about what I thought about MVC so far, I would say that it was great. God would have wanted me here.
